Quick trip to Mozambique
Our family took a quick trip to Mozambique during the Easter Weekend to assist another missionary family (Grant and Riana)to get to their car in Maputo. They sold their car in South Africa and bought another in Mozambique but had to get there. We decided to make a family trip out of it and jammed all six kids in the back and the four adults in front of the condor and off we went.

We left ASM around half past five and was at the border around 7. Everything went easy and good, expect for that one guy scammed Danie out of some money he said was to pay for the car to cross the border – which was not necessary after all.

We stayed over at the missionary compound in Macia with Stephanie (a missionary from New Zealand) and Willem and Carol Nel. If you didn’t know the missionary stations was there you will never find it. At one stage we thought we went the wrong way but we got there in the end. We visited with them and it was really a good time to get to know Stephanie and Grant and Raina better and to meet Willem and spend time with him. The children really enjoyed the friendships they made. Zane and Nico really bonded and it was great to listen to them talk and just play together.

Nêo-Rie and Teresa also became great friends. We realised this weekend that Nêo-Rie is only one day older than Teresa.

Jac and Joshua also played but sometimes apart from one another, but they are also the same age.

We went to Bilene on Friday so that the kids could swim in the lagoon and to “braai” some “wors” . Stephanie came along for the day. The kids really enjoyed it and swam and played a lot. They all passed out really early that night.
Jac found a crap – I was really glad it was already dead
We left Macia early on Saturday to avoid all the roadblocks and the GPS took us on a wild ride through all the small dirt roads of Mozambique but we got to the border after 3 hours and I have no idea how many km of dirt road and potholes and detours! But we got back in SA in one piece.
