Cherry time in Skopje

Image
It is cherry time in Macedonia.  This was our first experience of picking cherries and helping to make cherry juice.                           First you pick the cherries. Then you wash them and wash them some more, sorting to discard the bad ones Then you make a fire in the outside stove and boil them. Now,  this was the part we we had to leave, so we did not see how they made the actual juice. So this will be…. to be continued…. until next year when we know how to do the rest….

Celebrating birthdays

Image
It was my birthday on the 5th of May.  It was a difficult one for me, being without Danie in Turkey….. God provided wonderful friends that help me to celebrate in all the uncertainty.   Jac turned 6 on the 15th of June. We invited a couple of friends and celebrated his birthday – Space style!   Making the planets for the cake.   There are some more photos on facebook

Our long wait in Turkey is finally over

I wrote about Expectations and how my expectation was that we will be out of Macedonia for only 2 weeks….. well in the end it took us two and a half months to come back to Skopje. So what happened in Turkey….. I continued to homeschool the children, I was only expecting to be gone for 2 weeks and that is how much homeschooling preperation I took with me.  But in the end I had to improvise and thank goodness for the internet.  To see what we did in our homeschooling you can go to my homeschool blog. Other than homeschool we waited ….. well luckily not everyday, some days we had fun.   Children’s Day in Turkey   Men’s (and boy’s) bowling night Walking through IKEA…. fun up to a point!   Going on a kids rollercoaster!!!! Yeah!!!   Finding wall art you LOVE!!!   Many visits to this room in the Macedonian Embassy. Helping friends through injuries Walking through the city of Ankara trying to find places…. living out of suit...
